Providing the context and direction for the work of the PCT in the short-term is the implementation of the Peebles Town Action Plan - the preparation of which was headed up by the PCT, and completed in March 2016.

The main priorities arising from this that are being taken forward at present are:

  • establishment of a base for the PCT, and funding / recruitment of a paid facilitator / anchor person
  • completion of the Whole Town Master Plan
  • purchase and development of parts of the March Street Mills site for community use - including the allotments and the former Administration Building
  • development of a Peebles Business Network - embracing those businesses servicing the town and those providing products and services to clients far outside the town

Alongside this a number of other projects are being taken forward, either linked to the above, or responding to opportunities brought forward by PCT members or special interest groups.  These are currently:

  • potential transfer of ownership of the Victoria Day Centre (through Community Asset Transfer)
  • establishment of a community operated co-working space / business incubator (links to one of the use proposals for re-purposing of the former Administration Building on the March Street Mills site)
  • purchase of Eshiels Wood as a community learning and recreational asset (in part a development arising from the business planning work previously commissioned under the PCT by the Tweeddale Wood Fuel Group)
  • securing of Community Benefit from of the consented Cloich Forest Windfarm development (a joint project of Forest Enterprise Scotland and Partnership for Renewables (PfR), but recognising that PfR was recently taken over by EDF)
